What we did

TLC Care wanted a luxury space that was homely and enriching, yet promoted an active retirement. Wellbeing, especially for dementia residents, was key. Our role was central to this so we introduced art and wall sculptures that offered an immersive and tactile experience. The brief was to re-ignite passion for art, literature and sport.

The overall feel needed to be calming and evoke positive nostalgia. In depth research uncovered interesting references to the surrounding areas. All artworks received acrylic glazing for safety and we bespoke made all signage including window manifestations.

The project was extensive with features such as a hairdressing salon, library, cinema and working sweet shop. We dressed all areas. Combined with vast lounges and dining rooms on all floors our scope was one of our largest ever for a care home.

The artwork scheme is carefully designed to help residents easily identify which room they are in. The art became the way finding and the way finding became art.
