Wendy Satchwell
Wendy in her own words is a colour alchemist. Drawing inspiration from natural surroundings and her own personal life experiences, she uses textures and shapes to create an almost ethereal depiction of light, colour and energy. Her style and method is instantly recognisable. Wendy’s paintings resonate with the beauty and history of impressionism, yet they speak with the contemporary voice and structure of abstraction.
“Colour is all around us, every day, but sometimes we are all so busy that we don’t see the beauty that nature gives us”
Born in Birmingham, Wendy studied at Birmingham University where she gained her BA Hons Degree in Fine Art and Textile Design. She is a rising star on the Contemporary Art Scene and her work has gained an international following. She boasts high profile celebrities amongst her worldwide collector base.
Wendy creates highly textured surfaces by layering oil, water-based paint, and mixed media. Every brushstroke has its part to play in the tapestry of shimmering colour that conveys a sense of effervescent spirituality. The finishing touch sees a glass-like resin coating applied to the piece. This enhances the colour and the deliberate imperfections within the surface of her work, creating a brilliant finish.
