What we did
The art scheme Elegant Clutter devised for the main restaurant space at Hotel du Vin Brighton, relies on just a few well thought out pieces. The symmetrical room has two feature fireplaces that face each other. EC delivered a surrealist seaside concept that also has a sense of humour.
EC’s creative team imagined a translucent ‘sea’ of water on the wall with mini divers swimming inside it. A bespoke picture frame is fitted with hidden LED lighting, which accentuates the depth of the water and encourages guests to look twice.
On a separate recessed area, a Sea Captain concept was explored in a series of framed artworks. An eccentric approach brought other types of ‘Captain’ to the fore, including spaceship captains from the world of science fiction.
